Sailing and Port Operations at the Port of Kahului

The Port of Kahului is fully operational and will be accepting and delivering cargo as normal.  To support relief efforts in the face of the disastrous wildfires that have impacted the communities of Maui, we will be prioritizing the loading and discharge of medical supplies and emergency and utility vehicles to the port of Kahului over the next few sailings.

Young Brothers will strive to ensure that bookings for gated cargo sail on the currently scheduled sailing date(s).  However, due to shifts in capacity for certain sailings, Young Brothers may re-book some cargo to the next available sailing.  As a reminder, less than container load cargo is moved on a space available basis and priority will be given to cargo that support relief efforts.

How Can You Help Maui?

Young Brothers continues to focus our efforts on our partnerships with federal, state, and county officials who have stated that the immediate needs are being met.  If you would like to find out how you can support Maui, we encourage everyone to make a monetary donation to non-profit organizations such as the following:

• Hawaii Community Foundation Maui Strong:  Focus on rapid response and working with local nonprofits to understand community needs.
• Maui Food Bank:  Collecting and distributing food to help the hungry in Maui County.
• Maui Humane Society:  Supporting shelters for displaced people and animals and caring for injured animals.
• Maui United Way:  Providing direct relief to families and nonprofits
• The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division: Providing food and resources for evacuees.

These organizations are working directly with those impacted and can leverage their pre-existing relationships to maximize your donation.  Let’s let our partners do what they do best!

How is Young Brothers Supporting Maui Relief?

As Maui begins to move into the recovery phase, Young Brothers has opened applications for our Natural Disaster Assistance Shipping Program.  The program is open to active non-profit 501(c)3 organizations whose projects work directly in conjunction with supporting the recovery of those affected by the Maui Wildfires.

Are you looking to ship donations now?

County officials are urging those around the state NOT to ship donated goods to Maui as their immediate needs are being met and the county does not have the logistics infrastructure in place to distribute the goods appropriately.   We encourage everyone to make a monetary donation to one of the organizations.

Are you looking for container storage?

Due to increased demand in shipping to Kahului, Young Brothers is focusing on container and equipment usage for the purposes of moving cargo to Maui as we support agencies on the ground with their cargo needs.  As such, we are unable to provide containers for storage at this time.
